'An estate to be proud of'

Waiting on the Old Kent Road.

Some interesting comments from those involved with the Tustin Estate which is up for changes now, one way or another. Is there hope?

Apparently the council does not want a repeat of what happened at the Aylesbury. Should demolition take place there would be offers to leaseholders to buy their property at market value plus a home loss fee. If leaseholders wish to stay and take a new property, new homes would be shared equity, not shared ownership (shared equity is a better offer).

If there are works, there will be various payment options available. There should not be the bills seen in the tower blocks as the rest of the Tustin is low-rise.
New builds have individual meters rather than the present communal heating system. There will be tenant and resident involvement at every stage. (Hopefully this means they are really listened to, not just 'we hear, but...'). There will be ballots before any decision made. (Hopefully people will be fully informed and not pressured one way or another...).

Also Manor Grove, at their own request, are involved now and can so be as the council has the funds available now - the delay previously was due to insufficient funds.

Exciting? Worrying? Interesting? Yes.
